I have a septic tank, is it ok to use the garbage disposal?
We do not recommend using a garbage disposal with a septic tank due to the lack of breakdown of food particles which could result in drain field failure.
Is it ok to flush disposable wipes? The packaging says they are septic friendly.
No, disposable wipes do not breakdown and they destroy the bacteria in the tank. Bacteria is important in aiding in the breakdown of solids in the tank.
What product should be flushed periodically to improve the septic tank performance?
The health department does not recommend flushing any product for tank maintenance.
